THE PASSING OF HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II
We are all deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. Our thoughts are with the Queen’s children, members of the Royal Family and those closest to Her Majesty. Queen Elizabeth II was the longest reigning monarch in British history. We know that this news will have a significant effect on all young and old.
On this sad day, will mark the passing of Her Majesty with an assembly to remember together an extraordinary person whom most of us have known of throughout our lives. Not only was she our Queen, our sovereign, but she was also someone who believed that leadership meant dedicating her life to the service of others. She sought to commit herself, nurtured by her Christian faith, on her 21st birthday to serve those she and her family reigned over.
“I declare before you all that my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service ... God help me to make good my vow, and God bless all of you who are willing to share in it.”
Mrs. S Selleck
Head of School
As you will be aware, on 25th May 2018, a new landmark privacy law called the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) takes effect in the European Union (EU). The GDPR expands the privacy rights granted to EU individuals, and it places many new obligations on organisations that process EU personal data.
Christ Church School (CCS) already has a consistent level of data protection and security across our school and we are actively working towards compliance with the GDPR, for 25th May and beyond. In preparation for GDPR, we have produced a statement which sets out how we comply with the GDPR in the processing of personal data, and how we ensure compliance of third parties. Our compliance statement can be found on our school website here:
http://www.christchurchschool.herts.sch.uk/general-data-protection-regulation-gdpr/
If you have any queries regarding our compliance with GDPR, please email the Headteacher via headspa@christchurchschool.herts.sch.uk (this email is checked Monday to Wednesday).
Due to adverse weather after originally deciding to open, the school is now only accepting children who absolutely cannot be looked after at home or with friends or relations.
Decisions about opening on Friday 2nd March and celebrating World Book Day will depend on the weather conditions later today and tomorrow.
Apologies for the Parentmail email glitch meaning the messages reached you later than planned. They were all sent well in advance!
Also, further apologies for the disruption and inconvenience this weather causes to everyone.
Roll on spring!
Our special Family Groups whole school worship was held in the last week of term in preparation for our Christingle service in church.
The Chorleywood Magazine article (link below) highlights this annual event in our school calendar.

Following a day of snow disruption on Monday 11th December, we are planning on opening as normal tomorrow. Any change to this plan will be notified to parents as soon as possible in the morning.
Instructions have been sent to all parents via Parentmail.
Registers will remain open from 8.40am to 10.00am to allow for more time to travel to school.
Following our most recent inspection by the Church of England, we are pleased and proud to report that we achieved Outstanding in all categories.
SIAMS inspections occur every 5 years and following an Outstanding grading in 2012, with Religious Education graded as 'good', we were visited on 3rd November under a new and more rigorous framework.
On this occasion, after much hard work by all of the school staff, governors and children, we achieved an Outstanding grading across the four main areas including Religious Education.
The report can be found under 'Key Information'.
During the autumn term each year, we invite an external adviser into school to scrutinise our standards and achievement of all children - firstly in statutory assessments (SATs) and then across all other years.
Our school assessment data is compared to the performance of all children across Hertfordshire and measured against national benchmarks.
Once again, after rigorous and in-depth analysis, the standards of our pupils' achievements were graded as Outstanding.
This week, at the School Sports Partnership Awards, Euan from Year 5 was awarded the Young Sportsmanship Award for showing outstanding sportsmanship, helping others, motivation and determination in running in particular but also as an all-round great sportsman.
The guest speaker at the awards was Maddie Hinch MBE, the Team GB hockey goalkeeper who helped her team win gold at the Rio Olympics.
Congratulations Euan!
