We are recruiting  a cook for Christ Church School and also for relief kitchen/general assistant.

Cook for Christ Church 

Working hours 20 hours + overtime 

Rate of pay £10.10 per hour term time only

 

Duties

 • To develop and maintain a professional and proactive business relationship with client representatives • Food preparation and cooking 

• Control of hygiene, health & safety, and security in the kitchen

• Initiate recruitment to fill agreed vacancies – interview and recommend for appointment 

• General catering duties following the method described in the Catering Manual 

• Supervision of kitchen staff and the induction of new starts 

• Supervision of ongoing training for all staff on an annual basis • Operational control of service points including transported meals 

• Oversee emergencies – flooding and spills 

• Check in deliveries of Catering and Cleaning materials 

• Report catering equipment repair requirements to your line manager or nominated representative 

• Routine administration duties, cash collection, reconciliation and banking. 

• May be required to work at other sites within reasonable reach of your normal place of work 

• Other duties as may be assigned from time to time Paperwork 

• Ensure that all sections of the Catering manual are completed and maintained, and reviewed on an annual basis 

• All temperature charts and cleaning schedules must be competed each day 

• New start induction to be entered in the manual 

• Ensure the submission of time sheet by required deadline 

• Carry out inspections in the kitchen ie:- Infestation ,equipment in working order etc any faults must be passed to the Dolce Line Manager 

• Post cleaning materials orders to the Dolce admin office 

• Basic Hygiene Certificate 

• Supervisory Skills 

• Able to deal with children in an appropriate manner 

• Knowledge of Health and Safety 

• Manual Handling

• Communication skills at various levels from young children through to Divisional Manager 

• Technical knowledge of equipment 

• To correctly maintain all relevant records which are required for the running of the kitchen, eg ordering and stock taking, food temperature taking and recording, checking accuracy of time sheets and cleaning schedules 

• Numerate – perform calculations involving ratios to establish the correct amount of produce for number of portions required 

• Ability to use IT systems (if applicable) Decision Making 

• Health & Safety – ensure all staff work within guidelines or if not decide on appropriate corrective action to avoid possibility of accidents. 

• Defective equipment – report and decide on alternative method of food preparation to cover potential emergency situation 

• Faulty Produce – decision required to determine solution eg reject produce. If bad produce is used there is the possibility of food poisoning and lower uptake of meals • When deliveries are made decide if use by date and quality are acceptable and also ensure that stock is rotated correctly or else produce is wasted 

• Food Safety – ensure that all staff work within food hygiene guidelines or if not decide on appropriate corrective action 

• Financial – observe customer usage and decide if change of number of portions of a particular meal is necessary 

• Ensure kitchen area is safe, secure and clean before leaving

 

 

Relief Catering assistant 

0 hours contract 

rate of pay £8.91 

travels pay 

 

• Ensure the smooth delivery of Dolce Services to the school 

• General catering duties following the method described in the Kitchen Manual 

• Basic preparation of food and beverages (for example, vegetables and snacks) 

• Simple cooking (for example, the reconstitution of prepared food) 

• Transporting and serving of meals 

• Put away deliveries under the guidance of the Cook 

• Setting up and clearing away tables, chairs and equipment 

• The dining area is to be swept and spot mopped at the end of service (if applicable) 

• Cleaning kitchen surfaces, cupboards, tables and equipment 

• The cleaning of staff facilities including toilets on a daily basis (if applicable) 

• Washing dishes, cutlery, containers, etc 

• To inform your Line Manager/Cook of any defects in materials, equipment etc 

• Collection and reconciliation of cash received and cheques using a till 

• Clerical duties associated with the above, including the completion of periodic returns to the Head Office 

• Other duties as may be assigned from time to time from your line manager
